It Is a Family Name

When I heard that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were going to name their daughter Apple, I just threw my hands in the air. Really? You named your child after a fruit? I wonder how that conversation went. Maybe it went something like this:

Gwyneth: I want to name our daughter something cute, but something unique that no one else has. I dunno, Chris, what do you think about fruit names?

Chris: Fruit names? Like Banana, Orange, Apple?

Gwyneth: Apple, that’s it! We’ll name her Apple.

Chris: …

So now, I’m wondering how many people thought that was a really cool thing to do, and out there somewhere is a kid named Mango or Papaya. Or heaven forbid…Pineapple? Lord, I hope not.
